Embark on an enriching journey through Honolulu's vibrant culture and natural wonders. From exploring historic sites like Iolani Palace to engaging in conservation efforts at Paepae o He'eia fishpond, each day offers unique learning experiences. Dive into Hawaiian traditions with visits to Native Books and Mysteries of Hawaii, and connect with nature at Waimea Valley.

Impact Statement Everywhere we go, we carry a promise – to engage with respect, act with purpose, and leave a positive imprint. As envoys of our journey is more than travel; Our footprint is light, but our impact is profound, creating bridges of cooperation and mutual growth across the globe.

Day 1

Students arrive at the hotel, enjoy lunch and receive a safety briefing and an exploration of the lenses of inquiry of this travel experience. Then, an exploratory walk or visit of Iolani Palace to delve into local history. A relaxing dinner and rest in vibrant Honolulu.

Day 2

We visit Punahou, and transfer to the Bishop Museum for an insightful exploration of Hawaiian culture and history. Then, we visit the Institute for Astronomy and end the day with a Star Party with the Hawaiian Astronomical Society, providing an opportunity to gaze at the mesmerizing night sky.

Day 3

Sunrise at Kailua Beach and then transfer to Paepae o He'eia fishpond for a work session, contributing to the preservation efforts of this cultural site. Later, we move to Kaneohe Bay for a snorkeling adventure. Then, an educational visit to the Imaginarium Aerospace Exploration Lab.

Day 4

We go to the Manoa Cliff Native Reforestation Project to learn about their conservation efforts. Afterwards, we head to Honolulu for a visit to Native Books at Arts & Letters, followed by a meeting with a storyteller from Mysteries of Hawaii, delving into local tales and traditions.

Day 5

We go to Waimea Valley where we explore the arboretum, meet with representatives, and engage in educational programming. We take a refreshing swim in a waterfall and then visit the Pu'u O Mahuka Heiau State Historic Site for a glimpse into Hawaiian history. Finally, a cooking class.

Day 6

Students participate in the program's closing ceremony. Then, we transfer to Honolulu airport for departure preparations. Enjoy a leisurely lunch before boarding the flight back home, carrying with them the memories and insights gained during the program.

CULTURA IDENTITY

The enduring impact of US imperialism on Hawaiian identity, stemming from annexation in 1898, is marked by forced assimilation, language suppression, and land dispossession. The commodification of Hawaiian culture adds to the erosion, with ongoing efforts by the community to revitalize language, reclaim ancestral practices, and protect sacred lands against imperialistic threats.

ASTROLOGY

Hawaii's observatories, positioned atop its high mountains with clear skies, are global hubs for cutting-edge astronomical research. Led by facilities like the Mauna Kea Observatories, these centers foster international collaboration, drive scientific advancements, and inspire the next generation of astronomers, contributing significantly to our understanding of the universe.
