Ghana

In recent times, Ghana has beckoned descendants of African American slaves to return and reconnect with their roots. This program focuses in understanding Ghana's role in the global black diaspora. The lived experiences of the returning diaspora, juxtaposed against Ghana's rich history and evolving future, offer a multifaceted learning experience, ensuring our students not only witness but deeply engage with the narrative of a continent welcoming its children home.

Impact Statement Everywhere we go, we carry a promise – to engage with respect, act with purpose, and leave a positive imprint. As envoys of our journey is more than travel; Our footprint is light, but our impact is profound, creating bridges of cooperation and mutual growth across the globe.

Day 1

Upon arrival in Ghana, students check into their hotel to freshen up before lunch. Later, we gather for a safety briefing and embark on a visit to the DuBois Centre for Pan African Culture, offering insights into Ghana's rich cultural heritage. The day ends with a Ghanaian dinner with live music.

Day 2

The day starts with a briefing, followed by a visit to the iconic Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and Mausoleum. We enjoy lunch at a local eatery before exploring the Makola Market’s lively atmosphere and recieving a guided tour in Jamestown. We end with a debrief, dinner, and free time.

Day 3

Students embark on a scenic 6-hour drive to Kumasi, with several stops along the way. In Kumasi we visit the historical Manhyia Palace, offering a glimpse into the Ashanti culture and history. We visit the mammoth Kejetia Market and conclude the day with a daily debrief and a delicious dinner.

Day 4

We transfer to Adanwomase and Adrinkra, exploring the cultural richness of these destinations and nearby food markets. After lunch we have a cooking class for an immersive culinary experience and later continue our explorations. We conclude the day in Kumasi with a daily debrief and dinner.

Day 5

After a debrief, we visit a local youth organization for a meaningful exchange and engagement with the local youth community. After lunch, we transfer back to the hotel for a brief respite. We conclude the day with a debrief, reflecting on the day's experiences, and enjoy a pleasant dinner.

Day 6

After a debrief, we embark on a 4-hour trip to Cape Coast, with a meaningful stop at a local village for interactions with its members. After lunch, we travel to Cape Coast and Elmina Castles and explore the historical significance of these landmarks. The day ends with a daily debrief and dinner.

Day 7

After a debrief, we transfer to the breathtaking Kakum National Park for an immersive experience in the lush surroundings. Enjoy lunch amidst the natural beauty and engage in an Envoys-led activity to further enhance the day's exploration. We conclude the day with our daily debrief and dinner.

Day 8

After a debrief, we embark on a 3-hour transfer to Accra, the bustling capital. We explore the city, taking in the vibrant local atmosphere. Pause for lunch and participate in an Envoys-led activity to enhance our understanding of the city's culture. The day ends with our daily debrief and dinner.

Day 9

We begin the day with our daily briefing, followed by a bus journey to the serene Labadi Beach, providing a picturesque backdrop for the program's conclusion, during which students reflect on their experiences. Finally, we proceed to the airport, marking the end of a memorable and enriching journey.
